Summer Fete and £18k in one weekend

This past weekend Chabad Islington pulled off a 'full suit of cards'.

On Sunday the Big Jewish Summer Fete was celebrated under the historic Caledonian Clocktower, built in 1855, with field games, klezmer music and popular conversation cards handed out. Children loved the free bubble show and face-painting to butterflies and sonic the hedgehog. The fete was part of and funded by a city wide Mayor of London's Weekend celebration.

Secondly, a community 36 hour fundraiser raised over £18,000 towards securing the upcoming year's community space and programmes, which include Jewish discovery assemblies at Islington public schools, adult Jewish Learning Institute, Judaism for Dummies, CKids family activities, Jewish lifecycle events, young professional social events, Jewish walking tours and the Ein Sof gallery. Over 80 donations ranging from £5 to over £1000 with heartfelt encouraging comments like 'Keep up the good work and thanks for your hospitality'. The campaign 'Be the Angel of Islington' is still live and donations can be made here: https://charidy.com/AngelofIslington

The long weekend culminated in a new taster 5 episode workshop led by Hadasa Korer discovering ancient Jewish wisdom on helping people live a life of calm and serenity by learning how to trust. How to be able to let go and relieve ourselves from the heavy baggage of stress we too often carry.
