Shemurah Matzah for your Seder Table

Get Your complimentary Shmurah Matzah (Free of Charge or purchase a full box)

In a festival that’s steeped in tradition, the Shmura Matzah exemplifies tradition and heritage.  Shmurah Matzot are round, kneaded, shaped and baked just like the Matzot that were baked by the Jewish people when they left Egypt some 3000+ years ago. Many people have the custom to enhance their Seder table with at least one Shmura Matzah.

CKids: The Great Matzah Bake Off

Sunday 6 April 2025, 11:00-13:00

This Passover, Chabad Islington is turning up the heat with the Great Matzah Bake Off, an unforgettable event where Jewish children and families will experience the holiday of Passover in a whole new way.

Sell your Chametz

On the holiday of Passover, we are commanded not to have any chametz in our possession. Any food that is made out of grain that has been allowed to rise (ferment) is chametz. Common chametz items include bread, cakes, breakfast cereals, pastas, many liquors and more. Any chametz that was in the possession of a Jew during Passover is forbidden, even after Passover ends. This applies even if the chametz is locked up and out of sight.

The solution (as explained in the Code of Jewish Law, O.C. 448) is the “Sale of Chametz,” in which the food is sold to a non-Jew before Passover. After the holiday, the non-Jew sells it back, and it can once again be enjoyed.
