Volunteering Opportunities

During these difficult times, helping each other is crucial. We offer volunteering opportunities to assist community members in isolation, such as food delivery and making phone calls to check on their condition.

If you are interested in volunteering during the COVID-19 crisis, please fill out the form below and we will get back to you shortly.

Thanks for your interest!

We’re looking for fundraising volunteers to help with trust research and making phone calls to establish whether we are eligible for funding.

Experience would be welcome but not essential, and training will be provided. You need to have a good telephone manner and basic administrative skills. You can commit to anything from just a few hours to weekly shifts.

When you volunteer to befriend, you will be matched with another person in the community who you will visit in their home or call to offer friendly regular conversation while building lasting companionship.

You need to be a good listener and have an interest in other people, be reliable and able to commit to regular visits or phone calls.

Hospital visits

Volunteer to visit Jewish patients in local hospitals. You need to have an ability to communicate well with patients and staff, to listen, to show empathy, to be non-judgmental and to be reliable and trustworthy.

School talks

We offer Jewish Faith Discovery Sessions to all schools in Islington. During this visit students get an overview of Jewish practice, but more importantly they are able to ask any questions about the life of Jewish people. This valuable time raises awareness and allows better understanding of other faiths, in effect leading to more open minded and tolerant views of people with different lifestyles.

We need help with contacting schools to offer the sessions. You will then have an opportunity to co-run a session with Rabbi Mendy.

Social media

Do you live and breathe Facebook, Twitter or Instagram? Become a volunteer and jazz up our social media presence! Engage our community with fun posts, article shares or polls. You can commit to just a few days or a regular day per week.

Blog writers

Contribute to our website by writing a blog on anything from your childhood Jewish holiday memories, favourite kosher restaurants, review of Jewish dating platforms, or a book or film review. No politics please!

Event volunteers

Help us organise and run our large events, from the Islington Menorah Lighting and the Big Jewish Summer Fete, to High Holiday and Passover events. You can help before or during the event, and we have lots of different roles available, from admin tasks, leafleting and marketing, to running stalls and event photography.

Hosting events

Let us know if we can organise a community event in your living room or garden.

Event ambassadors

Become an ambassador for one of our Friday Night Dinners or kiddushim by helping us promote and inviting your guests. Perfect way of celebrating a birthday or anniversary!

Speakers for social events

Do you have a specialist knowledge or interest? You can become a speaker at one of our events. Talks can be from 5-45 minutes in length.
