Volunteering Opportunities

During these difficult times, helping each other is crucial. We offer volunteering opportunities to assist community members in isolation, such as food delivery and making phone calls to check on their condition.

Thanks for your interest!

Fundraising

We’re looking for fundraising volunteers to help with trust research and making phone calls to establish whether we are eligible for funding.

Experience would be welcome but not essential, and training will be provided. You need to have a good telephone manner and basic administrative skills. You can commit to anything from just a few hours to weekly shifts.

Social

Befriending

When you volunteer to befriend, you will be matched with another person in the community who you will visit in their home or call to offer friendly regular conversation while building lasting companionship.

You need to be a good listener and have an interest in other people, be reliable and able to commit to regular visits or phone calls.

Hospital visits

Volunteer to visit Jewish patients in local hospitals. You need to have an ability to communicate well with patients and staff, to listen, to show empathy, to be non-judgmental and to be reliable and trustworthy.

Education

School talks

We offer Jewish Faith Discovery Sessions to all schools in Islington. During this visit students get an overview of Jewish practice, but more importantly they are able to ask any questions about the life of Jewish people. This valuable time raises awareness and allows better understanding of other faiths, in effect leading to more open minded and tolerant views of people with different lifestyles.

We need help with contacting schools to offer the sessions. You will then have an opportunity to co-run a session with Rabbi Mendy.
